TOM VAN PUYVELDE
Tom Van Puyvelde (°1985, Belgium), graduated as a Master of Architecture at Sint-Lucas (Ghent) before successfully finishing his studies as a Master of Fine Arts at the School of Arts (Ghent).
While studying at the School of Art, Van Puyvelde not only got in touch with the medium of painting but also got acquainted with the different approaches to it. Experimenting and exploring different styles and techniques, he developed a layered and authentic artistic vision of his own. Under the supervision of the international curator and museum direct Jan Debbaut, Van Puyvelde developed a series of monochrome over-painted photo prints, which represent a study of color and emphasize the symbiosis between painting and digital media. This collection functioned as the subject for his graduation.
After completing his studies, Tom van Puyvelde started working as an assistant to the Belgian painter Koen van den Broek. The encounter between the two artists, gave Van Puyvelde an exclusive insight into the world of contemporary art.
Having built a strong base and network, Van Puyvelde moved to Brussels, which is now the hometown for his proper practice.
